Audio Tape
If you have compact cassettes, microcassettes , or reel-to-reel audio we can convert them to digital files. Files are saved as Mp3 files for easy listening, and FLAC for archival purposes. We do some sound editing to reduce background sounds, pops, hisses, electronic noise, etc. The beginnings and ends are edited off.
Tape Formats:
Compact Cassette: This is the most common format used for recording sound from the late 60s through the early 2000’s. Used for a variety of things from voice recorders to mix tapes they are very common.
Micro-Cassette: These tapes are small tapes that were commonly used in phone answering machines, small portable voice recorders, and dictation machines.
Other cassette formats: If you have another cassette type that isn’t either of these please contact us we can do other less common formats as well.
Reel-to-Reel Audio Tape
Reel-to-reel or open-reel audio tape recording is a recording on magnetic tape in which the tape is on an open reel and not inside a cassette. They were popular up to the 1980s. We can digitize the tape into Mp3 files so you can again listen to your recordings. We can do 1/4″ 4 or 2 track audio tape, if you have something else or are unsure please contact us.
Records / Phonographs
The files are returned in MP3 file format and also FLAC for archival purposes. There is sound editing done to reduce background noise, electronic noise, pops, and hissing. Beginning and ends edited off so files start and stop neatly. Records sometimes need to be recorded at a slower speed to keep the needle from popping out of the grooves and sped up on a computer.
Materials: Acetate, Cardboard, Vinyl, and more.
Sizes: 78, 33, 45, anything larger or smaller please contact us.
