We’re giving you a mission this year! Once a week, we’re going to post a question for you to ask a family member, or to answer yourself. Try and find a picture that goes along with each one! At the end of a year you can surprise your family member with a lovely photo book including the text from the questions/answers.

Make a folder on your computer and store these pieces of history.

Here we go, starting off with the first one!

1. What is your full name? Write down the story of why you were named what you were named. What is/was your nickname? Find a photo of yourself.

2. Where were you born? Write down anything you know about the home you came home to. Find a picture of your first house or the city you lived when a baby, or a map of the area.

3. What house(s) did you live in growing up? Anything special about them you remember? Write down stories connected with it/them. Any photos related to your houses you lived in? Gather them together.

4. Did you have any pets? What were they? What were their names? Gather a photo or two of each of your pets.

5. Were there any other family members in the area? Did you spend time with them? What did you do? Look for photos of family you lived near and spent time with.

6. Where did you go to school? What subjects did you like/dislike? Find school photos of yourself.

7. What sports/activities did you participate in? Find a photo related to your activity. If you are in it even better!

8.  What’s a story from your wedding day? If you are not married, share a story you have heard more than once about a family member’s wedding. Find a photo of the wedding!

9. Where did you meet your spouse? How did you meet? What did you do on your dates? If you are not married do it for your parents or grandparents. Find a photo of those early dating days.

10. Growing up, did you go on vacations with your parents and siblings? Where did you go? Any special memories from those trips? Find some photos of the travels.

11. Are there any family recipes that you enjoyed/hated? Describe when this recipe was made, who made it? Who was there when it was eaten. Look for the family recipe and add it to your folder for your photo book.

12. How were family birthdays celebrated in your home growing up? Find a photo or two of a family birthday!

13. What was your first wheeled transportation? Bike, car?? Look if you have a photo of your bike, car, truck or other vehicle!

14. What do you remember about your mom when you were a child? Find a photo of your mother.

15. Have you ever stayed in an unusual place when you were on vacation?

16. What is your earliest childhood memory? Or what is the youngest photo you have of yourself?

17. Do you remember any fads from your youth? Popular hairstyles? Clothes?  Look for an “amazing” photo of you or someone you love sporting a fad!

18. Who were your childhood heroes? Do you have a photo of them?

19.Were you ever mentioned in a newspaper?Do you have that clipping, hunt it down!

20. Who was the oldest relative you remember as a child? What do you remember about them? Look for a photo of them.

21. How did you find out your were going to be a parent for the first time

22.  What was/is your profession and how did you choose it? Do you have a photo of you at work? If not get one, remember it is where you spend a great deal of time!
