The start of the new year gets us all into the mindset of starting new habits. New habits that deal with old problems. Too much eating and not enough moving. Too much messy and not enough tidy. With our photos, there is a bit of the last one. Too many photos and not enough tidying of them. This is seen with both our old printed photos and with our new digital ones. I will give you a few tips on how to deal with each.
Printed photos:
Gather them.
1. Get a photo-safe pencil (buy one here) and while watching tv, write data on them.
2. Throw out the bad shots, duplicates, etc. Trash, garbage and gone. Keep just the best.
3.Put your newly labeled photos into a box in chronological order. Keep adding as you find and o more. Don’t concentrate on the amount undone, only the ones done.
Digital photos:
1. Pick a hub for all your digital images. One desktop computer/laptop/cloud service. It doesn’t really matter too much where, just that you have one place.
2. Delete, delete, delete. We all take too many photos, many shots of the same picture, photos of our food, our rash on our toe, ourselves with dog ears…. Keep only the best.
3. Add metadata, ok that might be asking a lot, but you can change the file name putting the date on so they sort chronologically. Year to month to day So it would look like this.
2018 12 31 after the date you can add a few words NYE Virginia, friends
