Sorting photos- who thinks that’s a great job? The memories are wonderful, the stories and moments are calling you to remember. But the piles, boxes, envelopes, baggies, bags, and bins filled with photos bring about many different emotions other than nostalgia. To bring those memories back to life, follow these three steps to get started.
At Pixologie, we want to help you discover your ‘photo nirvana’ which can mean different things to different people.
Here’s a few examples:
- Passing the printed family photos down to the next generation
- Completing photo management including proper backup
- Simple – I can easily find the photo I want when I want it
Here are three simple steps to reach your Photo Nirvana:
1. Get started today
Our photos and the stories within them strengthen family bonds, build strong resilient children, preserve values traditions, connect generations and inspire hope for the future. There is every reason to get started on organizing your photos today.
Once you make it a priority to consistently touch base with your photo collection, you’ll enjoy it and want to come back to it on a regular basis. Start today, and then at least once a month take the time to focus on preserving your family’s best moments.
2. Bring it all to one place
Photos have an amazing ability to accumulate whether you are dealing with printed, digital or both. Our clients often have photos in more than half a dozen locations. Who can possibly manage that? The only solution is to bring all of your photos to one place- your computer.
Printed Photos – Bring all your albums, boxes, folders, envelopes, baggies, (you get the idea) to one room or place in your home. While you are doing this, you can take the extra step of organizing them by decade (or another topic) as a starting point.
Digital Photos – Currently 70% of consumers believe the computer is the proper place to store digital photos. Take time (at least monthly) to copy, download, transfer, etc. your digital files to your computer – you can just save it to a monthly folder in your Pictures file (2016, September Photos) until you have time to sort them further.
Pixologie offers classes Printed Photo Organization and Digital Photo Organization so that you can work further with your photos once you have them gathered to one place.
3. Save what you love
When we only had film developing and prints to work with, the value of a single picture was greater. Today, we can take 20 photos with one click. We are amassing thousands of photos, yet so often, we can’t find the ones we love.
It is time to pick out the best of your photos and save them. You can do this by getting rid of duplicates, similar photos, landscape scenes, bad photos, it can go on and on. When you are using a smartphone camera or digital camera, this is very easy to do – delete the photos you don’t want right away, save the ones you love!
Need hands on help? We are here to help you get a handle on organizing your photos and reaching your Photo Nirvana!
